Bucheimer (pronounced boo-shimmer) was born in 1884, as the American manufacturer of original designs in leather goods. Bucheimer’s legacy includes leather goods for both personal and commercial use. In the first half of the 20th century, Bucheimer produced small leather goods; including, the first ever chain wallet, also known as the trucker’s wallet.
Beginning in the 1960’s, Bucheimer was awarded the contract to produce the U.S. Post Office mail bag, the NYPD holster, and the NYPD saddle. With this legacy in mind, we carry Bucheimer forward continuing a tradition of quality and craftsmanship that has been a benchmark of this brand for over a century.
Just as Bucheimer began in 1884, we are still manufacturing in the USA. We still use luxury, durable leathers to achieve a finish and patina only found in the best leather goods in the world. Vintage Bucheimer pieces can be found at high-end retailers all over the world. There is a collector’s market for those pieces, as there will be for the investment pieces we are creating for you today.
Over the past two years, we have been collecting Bucheimer heritage products. These beautifully designed pieces are blended into our initial collection with a few tweaks for today’s lifestyle.
Since most of the original hardware was made from Iron, we had to recreate the hardware with new molds, and use brass as a substitute. Our signature leather is a 5oz vegetable tanned leather similar to the original U.S. Mail bags in the 1960’s. We are also proud to introduce a 5oz Antelope KUDU nubuck leather in a rich tobacco color, which will be used on the U.S. mailbag. This leather has a buttery feel, and drapes just perfectly when you wear this bag.
